How to stay calm before your IronMan...

So, I have the trick for staying calm before your IronMan. Last year I was very nervous leading up to IMWI. In fact, during the registration process I dropped my timing chip. Well, of course, that caused me great grief seeing that they would not give me a replacement until right before the swim start. Talking about the "red herring" to keep your mind off the race - that did it. Even though I got my chip, it didn't quite work as I crossed the Finish line and I needed to yell up to Mike Riley my name and city so that he could annouce Robert Meyer from Madison Wisconsin -- you are an IronMan.

This year I have been so busy with things, that I feel like one of those dreams where you are at school and have a final exam, but you realize for some reason that you never went to class. I feel like IronMan is a few days away and "shot" -- it doesn't even feel like I prepared (which is not true at all). I have been so focused on the sale of our boat and the possible purchase of a new boat that my mind has been completely "not focused" on IronMan.

I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that I did IMWI last year. Last night we stayed in St. Louis and tonight we are on our way to Indianapolis. I'm guessing that the excitement will come tomorrow as we head into Louisville and see all the IronMan stuff setup.

Believe me -- I'm pumped to go and I will get my mind ready to go. I do not plan on DNF'ing.

Just can't wait to hit Louisville tomorrow!!!

So...where you staying in Indy?

Somewhere along 65?

I know that you are ready. Have a wonderful time celebrating the day.
Last year they really did a great job, I am sure they will again this year.

Don't even let the letters DNF cross your mind. You're going to do GREAT! The reason you don't feel like you prepared is that this is the second hard season under your belt...it's not that you're any less prepared, it's just that you're used to it. You've already become an Ironman -- you know the drill and how it feels and what you need to do.

Now go out there and do it again!

All the best to you from all of us in Wisconsin. You're going to rock Louisville!
