First Impressions...

Yesterday the big brown UPS truck showed up with my Atlas Race snowshoes, just in time seeing that we have probably 7 to 8 inches of snow on the ground with more on the way.

So, last night after we came home from dinner, I strapped on the snowshoes and made a loop around the house just to see how they felt.

Basically it was like I was running through the snow (which I was) with both of my shoe laces untied -- giving you that feeling that you need to keep from stepping on the other shoes lace. It was quite the feeling and will take some getting used too. The snow that I ran in was all powder and I believe the Badger State Games Quadrathlon will have groomed trails to run on -- which I'm sure will make a difference.

Now that I have the snowshoes and we have plenty of snow on the ground to practice, I just need to get myself to leave the warm treadmill training and hit the snow covered trails.

Congrats on the snowshoes. I've only used them once and that was for an easy hike, but that was a very accurate description of how I felt walking in them.

I can't image running in them.

Good luck on the State Games!
