This week is my biggest training week of my IronMan training schedule with 18.5 hrs on the schedule. The Door County half-IronMan makes up 6.5 of those hours.
The focus has been on the swim with 3.5 hrs so far and another hour on Sunday. I spent an hour and a half in the pool yesterday and another hour and a quarter today. It's funny how some days swimming 20 minutes is like forever but then I can swim an hour and a half and it doesn't seem that long.
This year the chances of me being able to wear my wetsuit for the IronMan swim in Louisville is not very good. So, I have been swimming as much as possible without the wetsuit just to get myself prepared. With the wetsuit, my hips stay floating and I don't need to kick -- but I feel restricted in my range of motion for my swim stroke. Without the wetsuit, my hips sink and I need to kick (I tend to frog kick) -- but I'm not restricted and my swim stroke feels great. So, overall I think it is a wash or maybe even better without the wetsuit.
I'm still not a fast swimmer, but I'm a confident swimmer -- and that works for me...

Good luck at DC Tri.. Watch out for their draft marshals, they are wily and ruthless. So run a clean race!
I'll be at Racine.
