How to pack for IMKY

So, how do I pack for IMKY -- basically grab every piece of workout item and throw it in the Zipp tri-bag. I put together a list of all items that I could think that I would need and then spent a few hours laying everything out on the kitchen table.

Last year for IMWI, I prepared for all types of weather. I had rain gear ready, cold gear, and everything in-between. I spent quite a bit of money just making sure that I was prepared for anything. This year I have spent basically nothing in preparation for IMKY. I decided to do my own bike maintenance and did not take it in to the LBS.

Tomorrow we are leaving town and heading down to St. Louis to look at a few boats. Then we'll head slowly to Louisville where we have reservations (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun) at the Official IronMan hotel -- The Galt House Hotel which is right down by the start/finish line.

Can't wait to just hang out in downtown Louisville -- enjoying the IronMan environment. Somehow I'll need to wear every piece of IMWI gear during the first few days and then hide it on race day. I wore my IMWI bike shirt in the Door County IronMan and during my last 3 miles on the run -- when I was walking, I heard many "come on IronMan, this should be easy" type of talk.

Ready for the mini-vacation...

yeah, I felt like a punk at Racine, limping along in my IM hat. It's the only run hat I have.

Good luck. Go get 'em.

I purposely wear my ironman hat during races so I can't wimp out. :)

I will be following along on Sunday. Wishing I was there...you will enjoy every minute - beautiful course and city.

Good Luck!

Ha! "mini-vacation" with just a little 140.6 mile jaunt in there...

Have a GREAT race dude - enjoy every second of it, as I know you will. I'll be tracking you live, and can't wait for the race report. I'll buy beer next time we're out!

I'm with you on the wearing of IM gear strategically. I do it too ;)

That said, Rock. That. Course!!!! You'll have a whole contingent back home here cheering for you. You'll do great! Enjoy yourself, race smart, and we'll have a celebratory JLT dinner when you return!

I don't have the Ironman gear yet- a week & 1/2 away! But during both Racine and High Cliff, when people found out that I was training for IMWI, they refused to run with me! Until I found a nice young woman from Milw. who was doing the same.
