What a difference a week makes...

Today I again went on the IMWI bike course for two (2) loops -- about 85 miles. Last week things did not go well with my stomach, so I put together a new plan for todays ride.

I stuck with Perpetuem, but I used the blender to blend it together with the water and I added just a small bit of unsweetened CoolAid. I mixed up four (4) different bottles with all different CoolAid in each. I then would switch between the bottles every 15 minutes or so. I also stayed out of my aero bars for almost the entire ride -- from time to time I would use them if the wind was strong.

I had no problems at all on the 1st loop and actually was able to eat a peanut butter sandwich at the half way point. The 2nd loop went well also with just a slight bloating feeling towards the end of the 5 hour bike ride. Overall, much much better than last Friday's ride. I'm still concerned with the stomach, but I really had the same concerns for last years IMWI and I got through it ok.

That will be my last long ride until IMKY. I love the feeling of "this is my last time on the IMWI route forever -- if I so choose" -- I play those mental games during the boredom of the ride. Today I added a $2.50 toy radio from Walmart and put it on the bike. It worked great giving me some music and talk radio to listen to -- made the day go by fast.

After the ride I had a bit of a stomach bloating, but much better than before...

Glad to hear you got this one out of the way...

Hey, sadness for me of the Favre trade...Packerland will NOT be the same.

It is good to hear you had a solid follow-up ride. Hang in there - you are cranking out the workouts right now & you are sooooooo ready to rock that race!

Good to hear the nutrition seems to be getting worked out.

I can't wait to say "this is my last time on the IMWI route forever." Although that's probably a few years off!

Go kick some ass at KY!
